I’m pleased to announce in another format that I’ve accepted a job position at IMVU Inc. in Palo Alto as a Senior Interaction Designer!
If you aren’t familiar, IMVU is a 3D chat tool, with elements of both a desktop application and a web-based application. Look me up if you feel like trying it out - my avatar name is MintOctopus. I’ll be removing the Nexxtep Interaction branding soon, and making this more personal.
This is very exciting for me for a number of reasons:
- IMVU is a big ol’ 3D world, and I am a big fan of engaging with others in 3D worlds (it’s why I bought a PS3, in fact…too bad PlayStation Home isn’t any fun…but I digress.)
- They have a very metrics-driven culture. The validity of ideas is vetted largely through experiments, rather than who has the louder opinion.
- The heart of the product is really great - a ton of fun, and they did a great job keeping the fun stuff and ditching the boring stuff (in some cases, inadvertently.) The rest of the user experience needs my help, so I am absolutely sure I’m going to make a huge contribution to the product and the team, which is a nice feeling.
So if I’ve been running silent, it’s been due to this new thing. I am going to make use of my Caltrain commute to blog much more frequently, so expect to hear more soon.
