The Essentials of Cloud Computing

By November 3, 2016 No Comments

Whether you’re new to the industry or are experienced in the business world, there’s no doubt that the workplace can be very unpredictable. This is especially true when it comes to disasters. For example, you may end up making a careless mistake and delete your files by accident, or a cybercriminal could cause a security breach. Regardless of the disaster, always be prepared when you’re in the workplace. With instances like power outages, for example, you won’t have time to store your data, since it happens in the blink of an eye.

With that said, have you considered using cloud backup services as a means to keep your data safe? It’s definitely one of the most effective tools for any business. Basically, it’s a service that allows you to store and access data and programs over the internet instead of your computer’s hard drive. Overall, here are some reasons you should be using it for your business.

One of the biggest reasons to use cloud computing for your business, is because with it, it’s easy to protect yourself from data loss. First of all, there’s no way for hackers to personally access it. Second, regardless of other incidents that could occur, such as power outages or even outdated hardware, these also have no effect on what you’ve stored over the internet. In fact, let’s look at a few examples.

Let’s say your laptop was starting to show its age. You were experiencing blue screens of death, and a sudden crash caused your hard drive to fail. Fortunately, though, your hard drive isn’t a factor when it comes to using cloud backup. Considering that all of your info is stored on the internet, it’s easily accessible from any device, including any mobile devices you might have.

Also, let’s look at an even better example of how cloud computing protects you from data loss. What if your computer became infected with ransomware? It’s a malicious software that encrypts all the information on your computer, and the data becomes inaccessible on your end. To make matters worse, however, the hacker also demands a sum of money. Failure to pay on time, will result in all of your data being deleted.

If you have these files stored away through various networks, this generally has no effect on you. Remember, that these hackers don’t get their power by making your device inaccessible. They control you by threatening your sensitive data. However, if you have it stored away, they have nothing to threaten you with. All in all, protection of your data, is one of the most essential reasons to use cloud backup for your business.

Another benefit of cloud computing, is that your information is accessible from anywhere. This is especially convenient if you don’t want to carry your laptop wherever you go. Feel free to use your mobile device when it’s convenient. With that said, having your data accessible from anyplace is also great if you’re out of the office frequently. What if you’re constantly traveling and need a way to access the files in your business? Simply carry a mobile device with you and open the files when you’re out during your travels. Overall, this is much more efficient than being limited to accessing your data from the hard drive in the office. In a way, cloud computing let’s you take the business wherever you go.
